Holistic medicine is based upon the understanding that the entire person: mind, body, spirit and emotions should be treated to promote long-term healing. Our philosophy is to treat the individual’s whole body through compassionate care. We believe that the holistic approach gives our clients a better chance for a successful recovery.

Liberation Way provides every client with the latest research-based treatment protocols. A treatment plan is developed based upon the individual’s needs. Every person is different. One person’s successful response to a treatment method may not work on another person. The ability to offer recognized, complimentary approaches to treatment helps ensure that every client will be given the tools required to build a strong foundation for recovery.

We are proud to offer a range of holistic therapies that can help bring personal awareness, establish mindfulness, and promote a stronger, healthy self-concept. Holistic treatment is provided in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches, not in place of them. We offer a range of innovative techniques that help our clients establish healthy daily behaviors. These new behaviors bolster the client’s ability to cope with stress, trauma, and triggers.

  • Yoga therapy: Yoga is helpful with effectively managing stress, anxiety, insomnia, and depression; all symptoms which are typically experienced by those seeking treatment for addiction. Practicing yoga can help individuals improve their mental well-being through relaxation and deep breathing. Yoga is helpful with impulse control as it’s teachings promote patience and calmness. Yoga can be beneficial and practiced by nearly anyone from beginners to seasonal professionals.
  • Music therapy: Music has the ability to affect a person’s mood. Studies have found that listening to music decreases stress levels and depression. A study published in 2012, by Dr. Silverman, involved inpatients in a detox center who were randomly selected to either attend a songwriting workshop or remain on a waitlist for music therapy. Patients who received music therapy through songwriting activities had significantly higher motivation and probability for successful treatment. Analyzing lyrics and identifying them is another way that music empowers the individual to begin the process of self-awareness. A process called drumming can be used for trauma, specifically those who are reluctant to speak about the traumatic events. The individual actually utilizes their hands and drums to release stress. Drumming also encourages communication through music.
  • Nutritional counseling: One of the objectives of recovery is to eliminate the negative behaviors and replace them with healthy, positive behaviors. One area that is most affected during active addiction is nutrition. Alcohol is an example of a substance that leads to empty calories; giving the body the false sense of fullness. This leads to a poor appetite and poor dieting which contributes to health issues and also an increase in mood swings. Individuals will learn the importance of eating meals, preparation of meals and the food groups.

The practice of one or many of these therapies builds self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-control, positive personal expression while improving healthy social skills and interpersonal relationships.
